At NZCare we provide the support that people require to live in the community whatever their level of need. Our highly-trained staff have the expertise to support people with disabilities regardless of the complexity of their needs. All services are overseen by managers who have recognised qualifications and/or extensive experience in supporting people with disabilities in the community.
Professional development for staff focuses on community inclusion, which emphasises each client's value and independence.
A person's needs may be best met by living in a house shared with 4 to 5 others on a long-term basis, living in a specialist residential facility, staying for short-term care, or being supported to live in their own flat. Our commitment is to promote maximum independence and community involvement.
Support is tailored to each person's unique needs, enabling them to live in their own home or access services and activities in the community – everything from help finding and setting up a flat, assistance with daily routines, cooking and cleaning, through to budgeting, shopping and accessing work and recreational opportunities.
Day vocational activity programmes are available in Christchurch, the Lower North Island and Hawke's Bay - with activities such as horse riding, gardening, farming, art, craft, music and movement, as well as specialist sensory activity programmes.
A respite service is available in Auckland for clients aged 16 — 30 that have a disability.
