Physical Disability

Enriching Lives

At NZCare we support people with physical disabilities to live independently; meeting their own needs, preferences and lifestyles. We enable people to live in the community either sharing a house with up to 6 others, in one of our specialist residential services or in their own home.

Residential Services

We have five custom-built residential services in Lower Hutt, Porirua, Greytown and Feilding, which specialise in support for people with physical and neurological disabilities, including a service dedicated to supporting people with Huntington's disease.

Our residential houses take up to six residents and are staffed 24-hours a day with continual access to a Registered Nurse. Support Workers aim to give clients as much autonomy and control in their day-to-day lives as possible and promote maximum independence and ongoing community involvement.

Amaryllis House

Amaryllis House is the first purpose-built specialised service in New Zealand which supports the needs of people with Huntington’s disease. People living at Amaryllis House are involved in the running of their home and have as much autonomy and control in their day-to-day lives as possible.

The service is staffed with experienced Support Workers 24-hours a day with continual access to a Registered Nurse. Support is also provided by a specialist Dietician, Speech Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist.

Supported Living

Our Services.jpg

At NZCare we offer people with disability choices about where they live. By tailoring support to each individual, we can enable people to live in their own home and access services and activities in their community.

Support might include: helping to find and set up a flat; assistance with daily routines and personal hygiene; cooking and cleaning; budgeting; shopping; and accessing work and recreational opportunities.
